Real Ones will release their second single, Ballad Of An Old Man, through Breaking Records on June 30th. Comprising two brothers and three lifelong friends from Bergen, Norway, Real Ones folk-tinged, Eastern influenced Scandi-pop music has a habit of building melody upon melody and projecting them with the beauty and sweetness of three-part harmonies. Where acoustic guitars and tumbling drum sweeps weave with the lesser-known surreal sound of Eastern instruments such as the Bouzouki and Indian Jaisalmer violin, Real Ones are bringing a gentle touch of the East to a broader audience.

The Strange Familiar, is pop/rock band from Akron, OH, and is now located in Los Angeles. They've recently released their new EP, You Can't Go Back, a nice mix of powerful yet intimate tracks featuring the wonderful vocals of Kira Leyden. Kira & Jeff Andrea have been performing and writing together for almost a decade. They made themselves a staple in their local music scene of Akron, Ohio, packing venues, managing their own careers, and moving thousands of CDs by themselves. Bassist Frank Freeman joined TSF over a year ago, and together the band recently made the move to California. Frank is also from Akron and has been performing for the past several years. They met by chance as they shared drummers for a couple gigs. Collectively they've opened up for acts such as Maroon 5, Bon Jovi and Sugar Ray. The album is streaming on their website, and it can be purchased from CD Baby.

Sickboy is a three piece garage folk/punk group from the wilds of NSW, Australia, and they've released a new EP, Water Never Waits. I was listening to more of their music on their MySpace page; check out the track called "Bellevue". It freakin' rocks, and could be the anthem for half the companies on the planet. We've got additional music on the way from the band; watch for a feature post on them soon!

One of our favorite bands, The Sapiens, has produced some new singles. The Chicago old-school rockers have been busy with a full tour and show schedule and will have a Rind release show at Metro in Chicago on July 25th. Rind was recorded with producer Brian Zeiske at Gallery of Carpet Studio (The Hush Sound, The Academy Is...).
