The Morning Pages sound is an intense-yet-rockous mix of honky-tonk, ragtime, country, soul and rock which makes it a bit surprising that they call Brooklyn, NY, home. Band members Grant Maxwell (lead vocals/rhythm guitar), Kevin Drost (lead guitar), Matt Stoulil (bass guitar), Ben Arons (drums/harmony vocals) and Jared Samuel (keys/harmony vocals) has a sense of nostalgia, having taken a total of two days to create most of the material on their new album, The Company You Keep, and then recording live to analog tape to capture the spirit of the moment. Judging by the list of influences on their MySpace page, they've incorporated an impressive range of artists into their music, mixing the elements just right. Music like this is always a good time to listen to, you can hear the good time the band was having while making it. The Company You Keep is their debut EP, and has recently been released to the masses. Highly recommended.mp3:
