The UK's Pushboxer is currently working on Pictures, their new album they hope to release by the end of the year. They have released a couple tracks, including the exceptionally well-done Water. The band is also busy playing local shows and may tour later this year. Sounds a bit like U2.

La Snacks got its start in Beaumont, Texas many moons ago with a different name and a sound more geared towards punk and whatever else front man Robert Segovia could get out of the ragtag bunch of schoolmates that accompanied him on stage. High school ended, the band name changed, college educations were gained and lineups were altered and solidified with the arrival of Joe DeShotel on guitar, Trae Branham on bass and Michael Frazier on drums. What followed next was a deal with Cash Cow Records, a debut full length and one front man’s journey to Austin, Texas. Clearly, the road for La Snacks has been a long and winding experience, but without it the possibility is high that Segovia’s sarcastic songwriting and the band’s adventurous ways don’t exist, and that would be a shame. La Snacks is proof that sticking with something can eventually get you to the point where all is as it should be or, as the band now says, Newfangled. Feel free to join them in these exciting times.

Gladshot is a New York City band featuring Debbie Andrews and Mike Blaxill, two artists who’ve gotten together to prove that literate, finely-wrought pop can spring from the combination of two quite distinct musical minds. The duo recently released Burn Up and Shine produced by John Agnello (Hold Steady, Sonic Youth), and their songs have been featured on ABC, MTV, the CW network, live on NPR radio and they’ve shared the stage with such artists as Head Automatica, Corey Harris and The Antlers.

Nick Whetro is Icarus Himself. After leaving Northern Indiana to relocate to Madison, Wisconsin, he started writing songs and ended up forming the group National Beekeepers Society (a sort of a slacker rock/garage pop group), which released two albums, Self-Titled in 2007 and Pawn Shop Etiquette the following year. Today he has taken his minimalist songwriting style and put it through the pop machine where out the other end came Coffins. Recorded at Science of Sound (Madison, WI) with the help of Karl Christenson (the other official member of Icarus Himself) and members of National Beekeepers Society and Sleeping in the Aviary, Whetro takes the refined distortion of the National Beekeepers and combines it with his wry and quirky vocals to make basement tape beauty which has been compared to the likes of Neutral Milk Hotel, Beach Boys, and Beirut.
