Since the backlog of music we have is enough to fill a Super Guppy, we'll keep the comments fairly brief and let the music speak play for itself. Actually, there's so much to get caught up on we may have a second weekend inbox on Sunday. Thanks for your patience to all the nice folks whom have sent music to us, and special thanks to all that take time to visit even with the long breaks between posts due to that four-letter thing called work. No particular order in mind on the music this week, we're just gonna take the hill.

King Khan & The Shrines are busy touring North America right now, but not too busy to share another track from their recently U.S.-released What Is?!. “69 Faces of Love” doesn't turn the RPM their music usually does, but it's a nice change-of-pace nonetheless.

Indie post-rockers Black Hat Brigade will independently release their second EP, Fathers, on May 29th. This will mark the follow up EP to their critically acclaimed self titled debut. Fathers is a collection of songs that meld tribal rhythms, nightmarish haunts, explosive dance parties and feel good shakers, with the sound of today's digital landscape.

Hoots & Hellmouth's second full-length album, The Holy Open Secret, is due out June 2nd. The philadelphia-based band continues to blaze a trail forward in the name of progressive revival. Rob Berliner, Andrew Gray and Sean Hoots return as the core trio of string slingers and harmonious vocalizers, blending the twisted roots of American music in a fierce and fiery alchemy featuring soulful three-part harmonies comingling with acoustic guitars, a mandolin, an upright bass and foot stomps.

The Heavy are back, hide the women and children. The Heavy are preparing to launch a Singles campaign to represent the first new music released since their much bally-hoo'd debut Great Vengeance and Furious Fire. They will release 3 singles this spring/summer leading up to the October release of their sophomore album, The House That Dirt Built. They then hit the Festival Circuit through June and July, howling and pillaging clear across North America.

Mississippi Man is a 5-piece band from Fullerton, CA, and they are releasing their debut EP, The Snake Oil Salesman. Headed by Luke Messimer and David Knight, sharing vocals and guitar work, the band is rounded out by Scott Rabjohns on bass, Santino Lighthouse on keys and Patrick Haag on drums. Their sound is saturated in rich tones that echo the band’s love for music of the 60’s and 70’s and influences from contemporary bands like Dr. Dog and Delta Spirit.

Originally from a small town in Northern California, singer songwriter Angela Correa has lived and traveled over much of the world. Those explorations stay close to her, one of the reasons why the music skirts genres; it is an amalgam of fuzzed out lo-fi indie rock, early American folk and the darker tones of classic rock. Influenced as much by Elisabeth Cotton and Jack Elliot as PJ Harvey and Neil Young, Correatown brings subtle stories to life with fluid melodies and distinctive arrangements. Haunting, genuine, beautiful and sparse are words often used to describe the music of Correatown. Her new album, Spark. Burn. Fade., will be digitally released on May 26th, physical LP out in July. Highly recommended.

A couple of great bands have taken the challenge of Toronto based indie record label Nevado Records East vs. West tour. After playing a show together in Sudbury on May 30th, Barrie's Fox Jaws will head for the east coast, while Toronto's The Paint Movement converge on the west coast. Both bands will be keeping a tour blog and will unite back in Toronto at the Nevado Records North by Northeast showcase.
